A few words about moi
Hi I'm David, aka Dragon, from Mississippi. I've been into dj'ing trance since about '97 and dj'ing psytrance since 2000. At that time there was no trance scene in MS, so I was playing at a lot of rave and club gigs, and slowly turning people on to psytrance. Around 2002 I was asked to join the TOUCH Samadhi crew based out of Asheville NC, which really gave me a trance family to bond with and branch out to the other trance communities in the US.
After becomming an established dj in the SouthEastern US, I decided that I really wanted to get into music production so I could try to get all these sounds out of my head and onto cds ! Around 2004 I finally learned enough about the sequencing software to get started and found myself finally beating that steep learning curve. Most of my instructional help came from ShapeStatic ( Bastard and Kri of TOUCH Samadhi ) who really gave me some solid knowledge on the details of MIDI production.
In the midsts of getting into production, I started a small trance promotions group with some friends called Vortex, in which we've done several nice open-air and indoor parties from 2004 to the present. We've had a pretty nice response to our events which brought out a lot of great people from the EDM scene in the region to give us a small trance scene here. We try to focus on quality, energy, and experience; and really educate people on the international trance scene with emphasis on being part of a global network of trance tribes.
In 2007, I teamed up with Stephen who created a new label out of New Orleans called Dharmaharmony. We both have a fine taste for quality trance and chillout tunes so we decided it would be nice to try to gather some of those great tunes and make some compilations for release in '08.
Currently, I have a career in network administration, so I spend most of my free time in the studio writing tracks and tinkering with new sounds and basslines. Most of the music I produce is heavily influenced by artists such as Penta, Encephalopaticys, Parus, Atriohm, Suria, Ocelot, Pondscum, Gappeq, Manifold, Psykovsky, and Terminator/Fabrique (rip) just to name a few. Other than a few singles coming out around the beginning of 2008, I'm working on my first album which should be ready for release around the spring/summer of '08.
